Supervention movie review

W.O.W - Goose bump material - Beautiful nature and sports scenes

If you are into skiing, outdoor, nature and top athletes Supervention is made four you. Beautiful scenery especially in Norway with Lyngen, Romsdalen, and Lillehammer. Got some 1994 Lillehammer Olympic feeling when seeing the scenes made at the Olympic jumping arena. I also got goose bumps a couple of times, that is very unusual for a movie for me. Seeing it at a real theatre probably made the feeling even greater.

The scenes from Svalbard in Barentsburg is just a travel in time, back to the cold war. Lenin sculpture, Russian workers, abandoned buildings and then just crazy cool skiing.

Filming

Amazing filming, from all angles with usage of both a drone and helicopter and a cople of camera men. Good combination of interview, action and also the sorroundings. For example how the cross country skiiers just stop and stare, when the jibers take their arena, kids applauding and russions going wild on mobile camera. I would say that the filming of this movie is epic!

Athletes

How is it even possible? Having seen most of the previous Field Production's movies, the tricks now seem more crazy than ever in Supervention. And so does the crashes... But seeing the smile on the skiier after nailing a trick is just so amazing. I like the combination of jibbing, and big mountain skiing. Seeing world cup Norwegian skier Aksel Lund Svindal in the powder is so cool. He is the one in the picture above, clinging to the top of the feared mountian before taking his turns. An then minutes after hands shaking like lafe a leaf. When you think of it, he is actually having his whole career at stake, but does not give in compared to the professional freeskiers. And I am still enjoing the lines of snowboarder icon Terje Håkonsen.

I feel like the both the the jibbers and the freeskiers go all in in Supervention. The freeskiers go for the lines they know they have failed and been hit hard on before. May be a bit over the line with some really searious avelances that hit some of the skiers. Jesper Tjäder had some serious hits but also did some serious tricks.

I also appreciate that Tirill Sjaastad Christensen got her shot in the movie at Folgefonna.

Sound

I like the sound and tracks choosen for Supervention, tracks that most have no associations with. But still a good fit. I also hear that they have put on some swoshes and similar sounds in the power turns, but that is just how it should be.

Conclusion

Go and watch it in theaters in Norway now before it is too late! It will give you lots of motivation and inspiration to the next season. Buy the Supervention movie when it is availible, to be able to see some of the scenes one more time. Given the category of this movie I give it a 6 of 6 score. If you enjoy it as much as I did you'll probably head home googling for quadrqcopters with cameras... Dreaming of some nice lines in the backountry near you.
